Which Test is Best?

Have you ever wanted to see exactly what is going on inside your body?

Or to find out why your body reacts differently from others?

How are the good and bad bacteria are balanced in your gut microbiome?

Why your symptoms are not responding to treatment as they should?

Functional testing is one of the things I feel especially privileged to offer my clients. A chance to take a look inside and see what is really going on. It is particularly valuable for clients who might have been told by their GP that they are within the normal range for standard NHS tests, but they are still living with problematic symptoms.

Advanced diagnostic testing gives a fascinating insight into how your body is working, it offers a comprehensive approach to assess nutritional status and identify any underlying imbalances or deficiencies that may be contributing to health issues. Results provide a map to optimal health, they remove the guess work, reduce wasted time and money. Allowing for truly personalized diet, lifestyle and supplement recommendations based your specific needs.

Tests using blood, urine, stool or saliva can be conveniently gathered at home and then sent to a lab for analysis. I will then receive the results for interpretation before feeding back the actionable plan.

Tests available range from nutrition status, food sensitivity, gut health, genetics, metabolics, to hair sample testing for toxic heavy metal levels. Here are some of the common functional nutrition tests I use in clinic:

Test

Description

Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones (DUTCH)

Nordic Laboratories Urine samples collected on day 21 of your cycle, halfway through the follicular phase when progesterone should be high, and oestrogen should be low. Approx Cost £150-£250

Mood changes Fatigue Low libido Hot flashes UTI's Perimenopause Menopause PMS

Endometriosis Fibroids

Oestrogen dominance

The DUTCH test provides valuable insights and a detailed analysis of sex hormones, oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol and their metabolites, to show how hormones are being processed and eliminated from the body. This information can be helpful in identifying potential hormone imbalances and guiding the way towards hormonal balance.

GI EcologiX

Digestive discomfort

Bloating

Diarrhoea

Constipation

IBS

IBD

The ultimate gut health and microbiome stool test to provide a valuable insight to the gastrointestinal ecosystem. Assessing markers for digestive function alongside the most relevant bacteria, yeast, and parasites markers, backed by clinical literature. Individual microbes can rarely be pinpointed as the cause of symptoms, it is more often an interplay between the host, their immune system, and their microbiome. We look at the patterns of microbes in context to best understand health issues. The science ensures you gain data that is personalised enabling meaningful action points.
